Algipad dressing
Algipad dressing is ideal for the care of heavily exuding wounds. Highly absorbent, Algipad dressings are made from chitosan, calcium alginate, Cellulose fibers and lactic acid. The soft and comfortable wound dressing fills even deep wounds and conforms to most any wound bed. The dressing maintains its coherence and integrity when saturated and can be used in all phases of wound healing.
Due to the intrinsic antimicrobial properties of chitosan, Algipad has an antibacterial effect on the wound bacteria in the dressing including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The dressing has a transparent and semi-permeable membrane layer on the surface, which transfers nutrients from the middle layer of the dressing to the wound bed through osmosis, and transfers excess secretions from the wound surface to the secondary dressing by reverse osmosis.
It can speeding up the healing of wounds by stimulating angiogenesis in the granulation phase. This dressing has a non-sticky layer on the wound surface, which does not damage the granulation tissue when changing the dressing. Algipad is available as a flat sheet dressing. It can be used in the management of wounds which are:
- Moderate and heavily exuding
- Superficial or deep

Usage method
- First, the wound should be completely cleaned and the Algipad dressing should be placed on the wound.
- When using the Algipad dressing, its transparent surface should be placed on the wound and cloudy surface, facing outwards.
- According to the type and amount of wound secretions, you can use a variety of secondary dressings such as hydrofilm, hydrocolloid, foam, and absorbent pads.
- According to the amount of wound secretions, it is recommended to change the Algipad dressing between 3 and 5 days. In other words, the time to change the Algipad dressing depends on its saturation.
- To increase the effectiveness in wounds with low discharge, you can moisten the surface of the Algipad dressing with normal saline.
To note:
- Do not use the Algipad dressing if the original packaging is damaged.
- If you are allergic to dressings or its components, avoid using Algipad dressing.
